At the other end, you can have full participation by all family members, for example groupings of K-3rd grade, 4-6th grade, middle and even high school. They learn officiating, do fun games and team-building exercises, and play on teams with one or both parents, with a no-jumping rule for the parents often used. The vintage or retro style in volleyball logo design pays homage to the rich history of the sport. These logos often feature classic typography, muted color schemes, and elements that evoke nostalgia, such as old-school volleyballs or traditional net designs. A vintage logo can convey a sense of tradition and longevity, perfect for established teams or leagues that want to celebrate their storied pasts while serving up some serious style.

Vancouver-based active and swimwear brand Left On Friday took home the hardware back in July 2022 when it announced a three-year partnership with the Canadian women’s volleyball team. The brand has been designing and dressing the team in their official uniforms, bikinis and accessories in the lead up to the olympics as team Canada competed at volleyball tournaments all over the world. And earlier this week, Left On Friday unveiled the crowning achievement, the official uniforms that will be worn at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games which is less than 100 days away. Volleyball is evolving with technological advancements and shifting global interests.

Daughters can play in the son division, at the oldest child’s division, while sons can play in the father-daughter division as long as they are two years younger than the age group. Using the “teach to learn” volleyball principle, train the younger children of the families in your program, and their friends. The team sizes can vary between two, three or four, and teams need not be the same numbers of players to compete (i.e. three-person teams can play vs. four-person or two-person teams). At times, the older players should step in and play with teams, primarily in the setter position so they can improve errant passes and deliver better off-the-net sets.
Friday afternoon, juniors get a clinic on playing the doubles game with the rule differences and play fast fun five-minute games against as many other junior teams as time permits. Saturday, the juniors play age-group doubles while parents watch or visit the area. Sunday (Father’s Day), father-on and father-daughter competition takes place in 18 & under and 15 & under divisions. Fathers with two or more kids are allowed to substitute the kids freely, even point by point, as long as the oldest child’s age division is competed in.
As it happens, the ball’s design can be partly to blame for the erratic movement of such serves. Secondly, the surface of the balls can be changed by adding dimples or thin protruding patterns on the surface. These two aspects can drastically affect how dramatically the ball deviates from its expected path, thus possibly increasing or decreasing the efficacy of certain serves. From my own experience, playing with ball c (dimple ball) below in Figure 5 has given me the most frustration in-game when receiving float serves. For the newly minted company, it was too early to think about sponsorships.
Here are five innovative ideas that will set your design apart, infusing it with uniqueness and flair. For those looking to capture the high-energy essence of volleyball, dynamic logos are the way to go. These designs often incorporate action-inspired elements, such as players in mid-serve or spike, dynamic lines that mimic movement, or even the ball blasting through the air. The use of bold colors and sharp angles can amplify the sense of motion, making these logos practically pulsate with the excitement of the game.
Silhouettes of players serving, spiking, or diving for the ball can convey motion and emotion, illustrating the essence of the game. This approach can be particularly effective in portraying the competitive spirit and energy of your team or league. Remember, the pose and style of the silhouette can significantly affect the logo's overall feel, so choose actions that align with your brand's personality. Incorporating wings or motion lines into your volleyball logo design can symbolize the speed, agility, and elevation that players achieve during the game.
Since much of the sport at the youth level is directed at girls, adding boys, in either a coed training fashion or as a team, is also strongly encouraged to enhance a program. Your program can do this by helping the middle and elementary schools to add girls AND boys teams for interschool training and competition. Your players and parents can help guide, coach and train the school leagues. Consider using silhouettes or stylized images of players in mid-play—setting, spiking, or digging—showing the coordination and support inherent in the game. The key is to select poses that reflect collaboration, such as a setter preparing for a spike or players diving together to save a ball. These dynamic representations can breathe life into your logo, making the teamwork aspect vivid and undeniable.
These logos might feature imaginative mascots, playful typography, or inventive interpretations of volleyball elements. The whimsical style is all about fun and personality, making it a fantastic choice for youth teams, beach volleyball leagues, or any group looking to add a dash of joy to their brand. Embarking on the quest of creating a volleyball logo design that stands out can feel akin to stepping onto the court for a championship match. It’s all about strategy, creativity, and, most importantly, understanding the playbook of common styles that define the essence of volleyball logo designs. So, grab your creative gear, and let's dive into the fascinating world of volleyball logo aesthetics. Here, we will explore the top five styles that dominate this exciting arena, each with its own unique flair and spirit.
The FIVB Volleyball World Championship and the Olympic Games are among the sport's most prestigious international events. For girls, putting it up to men’s height means the players learn arm swings that hit the ball in over an about 8” high block, the height the majority of younger players get their blocking hands above the net. When I played with the Denver Comets pro team, my coach/teammate Jon Stanley (father of 2004 Olympian Clay Stanley), had us hit over a pair of linked badminton nets which were strung from antenna to antenna. This long net was about two feet high on the sideline, and dipped to 18 inches in the middle for those quick hitters. We all learned an arm swing that hit over a two foot high block and into the court, a VERY valuable way to swing for a spiker.
The women had to go back to the IOC when they needed to adjust the silhouette to accommodate a left-handed player, just to make sure there wouldn’t be any complications. This is the third year that Left on Friday, based in Vancouver, has partnered with the Canadian women’s beach volleyball team to design and outfit players with uniforms, bikinis and accessories. “It has been a dream come true to support and work with Volleyball Canada to design uniforms that are not only meant to enhance and support elite athletes’ performance but also look good while doing it,” Low Ah Kee said. An important aspect of the drag crisis point is that it can be completely avoided if the right conditions are met.
Wings, in particular, can evoke a sense of victory and soaring above the competition, while motion lines add a sense of action and energy, making the logo feel alive and in constant motion. Each style in volleyball logo design serves a different purpose and speaks to various aspects of the sport's identity and community. So, set your creativity in motion and design a volleyball logo that's not just a symbol, but a story—a story of passion, unity, and the love of the game. The measured traits of the balls such as the drag coefficient and the drag crisis point are specific to each volleyball design and directly affect the movement of the ball. The balls used in various international competitions such as the Olympics or the Volleyball Nations League can help teams determine which serves will be more effective during each specific tournament.
You can also get away without even having a scoreboard, but instead having each server call out the current score, before serving. Having one referee is also enough, and many of these ideas will run great with the players self calling. Keep the costs down, and keep the kids thinking by getting the playing teams to do all the officiating, it is good at the grassroots level. Many programs are not aware of the easiest way to create a round robin competition.

If not, you can have two kids holding the rope sitting in chairs, and changing the chair sitter/holders every few minutes. The BEST and least expensive way to double the number of nets in your training area is to put up wall rope standards. What you do NOT want to do is put an eyebolt in at the “right height” but instead to put one eyebolt up high, at 10 feet or so, and another one on the floor baseboard.
From the symbolic to the abstract, certain elements can spike interest and rally excitement. Let’s bounce into five essential features that can elevate your volleyball logo design, each adding its unique flavor to your creative concoction. Scoring can be regular rally scoring, or “best 2 out of 3” point scoring (where the official/scorekeeper tosses in 1-2 balls after the served rally ends, so that serving does not dominate the game). Some programs have found parents being taught in these sessions to move into an assistant coaching role within the season. The ideas do not stop at high school, but other programs have family competitions at the collegiate level, and in club alumni games, as well as post college.
